Yes. It is easy to remove the straight edge from the wires.
What is the difference between Counter-weight and Cross-wire parallel motions?
Counter-weight parallel motions rely on a weighted mechanism to stop the straight edge sliding to the bottom of the board when the table is at an angle. Cross-wire (or continuous wire) parallel motions rely on friction to grip to board.

Can I use a compass with Papyroboard board cover?
Papyroboard is a hard wearing vinyl material which protects your board surface. Although it is hard wearing, compass points may still find their way through if used regularly. We would recommend a cutting mat to protect the board surface.
